Marcus Hiles – Notes What Makes Adopting Texas Pro-Growth Schemes Advantageous
Based upon the remarks of Marcus Hiles as the Chairman and CEO of Western Rim Property Services, the state laws have made the job growth faster than the rest of the country. For a period of more than two years, Texas was able to recover more post-rececssion jobs than the whole U.S. and the number of jobs added to its pre-recession employment peak during the first month of 2016 have reached over 1.3 million. The lower unemployment rate of the state compared to the remainder of the country remained steady (in the month of April, the state was 0.6 percent lower than the 5 percent unemployment rate in the whole country), that is why consumer confidence has been strong. Based on the May’s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI measures the amount of optimism that consumers have with regards to the future economy) of the state and the entire country, Texas tend to have higher CCI of 117.6 than the rest of the country, which only has 92.6 CCI. One of the beneficiaries of the booming Texas economy – prompted by tax cuts amounting to more than $5 billion during the last three years – is the housing market. The existing homes have 5.9 percent more value while single-family building permits were 6 percent more in number.
